I’m back!

Hello, hello! I’m back from my design break whilst taking my maternity leave. My girls are now six months old, things have been so great and I can honestly saying being a mother is the absolute best thing I’ve ever done. Here is a quick little layout of my twinkles fresh out of the oven at their newborn shoot:

They are definitely not this small now and they are developing more of a character each and every day. Now that we are settling into a good routine as a family I have been bitten by the design bug again and I’m ready to get back into the swing of things. The past few months has been spent designing and doing up the blog and the store to create a more cohesive and (hopefully) efficient website.  More content will be added over the next couple of days but I hope you can notice the differences and that it improves your experience here at Melidy Designs – if you have any suggestions as to something that would improve your experience on the site, please let me know – I am always open to improvements, so let me know what you think.

Lastly, here’s a sneak peek of what I’ve been working on, this new kit will hit the shop this Friday and it’s my favourite one yet:

Want to win a copy? Simply leave a comment on this post telling me your first memory of seeing that beautiful castle. And for a bonus entry head on over to this Facebook like/ comment on this post.  I will draw a winner this Friday on the new release post!

This break with my girls has definitely been good for me and I can wait to share all that I’ve been up to.  I hope you all have been keeping well!

  1. Congrats on have twins, they are beautiful! My first memory of the castle was after I had been married for five years and my husband and I had saved up, so I could see Walt Disney World for my very first time. It was the first of many trips to our favorite place. It has held so many wonderful memories with our children and our daughter even ended up working there for ten years.

  2. my first memory is from when i was about 8 years old (back when neon and fanny packs were in. lol) my poor dad was lugging around the giant, old-school vhs camcorder. i finally transfered that video onto a dvd. now that he is no longer with us, i love being able to look back at that trip.

  3. I remember going to DL for the first time in mid 70’s and thinking the castle was magical! I LOVED walking under it! 🙂

  4. Growing up in Florida, some of my earliest and fondest childhood memories involve visiting Magic Kingdom with my extended family! I didn’t get to visit Disneyland until I was 34, and I remember catching my breath the first time I saw Sleeping Beauty Castle. For me, both castles represent innovation, creativity, and happy family memories. I can’t wait to visit Magic Kingdom again next week!

  5. Glad to see you’re back! I’ve loved your designs and wished I had seen them earlier. Congrats on the babies!! My first view of the castle was when I was14, and I cried like a baby. I’ve seen it many times since then….and still cry like a baby!!

  6. Seeing that castle across the pond – it just makes me feel like I am at Disney!

  7. Congrats on the two little bundles of joy! They are beautiful! My first memory of seeing the castle was mixed feelings…I was sooo happy to share the moment with my three kids and my husband; but it was SOOO crowded we couldn’t even take a picture without someone walking in front of us….so I was quite frustrated! Looking back at the pics I had taken gives me warm, fuzzy feelings of the great time we had in Florida, though. There really is nothing like Disney magic! Thanks for the chance to win!

  8. I don’t remember the first time I saw the castle, I was too young. The next time I was 12 and I didn’t see it very well. I applied sun screen in the car, rubbed my eyes, and ended up in the Disney first aid as soon as we entered the park. I didn’t see it that well that day, but I fell in love with it.

  9. The first time I was too young. The 2nd time I was 12. I couldn’t see it well because I applied sun tan lotion in the car, got it in my eye. First stop at MK was first aid. But I fell in love that day even though I couldn’t see that well!

  10. My first memory of the castle was in 1984 when my husband and I took our children to Disneyland for the first time. It was a magical visit, the first of many. Sadly our daughter passed away a few years ago, making the memories all the more special.

  11. Congratulations and Welcome back! While visiting family when my daughter was about one-year-old (now 40!) we took her to Disneyland. A magical experience for ME, at least! ;-]

  12. The first time I saw the castle at Disneyland was 1963. I’ve been hooked ever since!!

  13. Congratulations on those precious babies! Twins are a wonderful blessing (Mine are all grown up now.) It’s so much fun to watch them interacting and depending on each other as they grow.
My first memory of the castle was DL in 1968. It was a different place then but still so magical! When I finally took my kids to DL 3 decades later, I had so much fun taking pictures of them in the same places in the park as I had of my brothers and me. My favorite is in front of the Snow White and dwarves statue near the castle. Some great scrapping material!

  14. Fairytales just like getting twin girls ~ that what I thought about when see the castle ~ magical

  15. adorbs

  16. Congrats on the twins. The best thing was seeing my hubby’s face the first time he went to Walt dis ey world

  17. Congratulations on the birth of your twin girls! I love little ones; they are so precious!! & you have double the blessings & joy!!!
As for the castle … I went to Disneyland when I was young; sometime in the early 60s, but I really don’t remember the trip — other than at that time you needed tickets to go on the rides! So my first real recollection of the castle was when we took my daughter for her first visit at the age of 3; about 27 years ago. Such a magical place! Thanks for the chance to win your new kit!

  18. Congrats on your beautiful daughters!!!! The first time I saw the castle was when we moved to California and took our children to DL. That was a very long time ago:)

  19. Congratulations! I first saw the castle at DL in 1968. The park has changed an incredible amount but the magic has never changed!

  20. We saw the castle in WDW for the first time in 2012 and it was awesome!!!
Congratulations on your precious twins. My twin girls are now seniors in high school. It is an amazing journey you are embarking on – enjoy every precious moment.

  21. Congrats on the Twins! My 1st memory of the castle was many many years ago…summer after 5th grade my grandmother took me to DL. Thanks for the chance.

  22. Congratulations on the twins. I have twin boys so I understand. They are 8 now but I remember those early months. I don’t remember the 1st time I saw the Disneyland castle (I grew up in CA) but my funniest story is when my husband & I went in March to WDW & as dust was occurring, he asked when they were going to light up the castle. Later, it occurred to us that the castle was lit up as much as it was going to – we had been at WDW in December when they hang all the lights.

  23. So excited to see that you are back. What beautiful babies… they are such a joy. Just dropped mine off for her Freshman year in college… it came in the blink of an eye.

The first time I saw Cinderella Castle was in the summer of 1972, I was not quite 4 years old. WDW was such a magical place and still remains so for me (and my daughter) today!

  24. Congrats on the twins!

I can’t remember the first time I saw the castle but one of my most cherished photos is from my first trip. It’s my grandma giving me my first pair of ears. I wish she could come on my son’s first trip and give him his first ears — luckily, his grandma (my mom) called dibs. And technically, his first photo in front of the castle happened at MNSSHP when I was 5 months pregnant…

  25. I thought, yay!, I’m going to where Cinderella lives! 🙂

  26. Every time we went to a Disney movies I would tell my kids that was Disneyworld…so when my little girl made it to the castle for real she yelled DisneyWorld.

  27. Such sweet babies, congrats! I saw the castle when my boys where little. Just stood there on Main Street with tears welling up thinking, God I really love this place!!

  28. What’s better than a new daughter? Twin daughters!! More sugar and spice, frilly Cinderella dresses, and dancing shoes! Congratulations! Looking forward to seeing the new kit; welcome back – you were missed.

  29. I first visited Disneyworld in 2011 with my daughter and now son-in-law. When we got into magic kingdom and close to main street my daughter did something special. She covered my eyes and led me to main street, facing the castle she removed her hands to the most breathtaking sight. I’ve been hooked ever since. On the same day grew another precious memory of her walking from the old fire station to the entrance to main street with a Mickey balloon to see a display on the castle and she looked back at me with an excited grin on her face just like she was a toddler. So many precious memories have been made for us as a family at that castle and there will be many more to come. 😊
